United Iu-Mien Community Tour/Trip to Thailand and Laos

United Iu-Mien Community, Incorporated and the 2009 Laos and Thailand Tour planning committee proudly announce and invite you and your spouses to join us in an exciting journey to Laos and Thailand, to celebrate our traditional Iu-Mien New Year. The tour includes a soccer game, live band concert, the Iu-Mien traditional festivities and nights of Laotian traditional circle dance and more. This tour is scheduled for January 1, 2009.

Purpose of the Tour/Trip

As part of the UIMC’s mission, the agency would like to create an opportunity for the Iu-Mien youth and adults to travel back to their homeland and rediscover their roots in Laos and Thailand. Other purposes of this trip are to preserve the Iu-Mien culture, build relationships and provide social network and support to Laotian Iu-Miens and Thai Iu-Miens who live oversea. UIMC is confident that this cultural exchange between the Mien Americans and the Mien people in Laos and Thailand will help to cultivate the Iu-Mien traditions and values for the participants and others.

What is in the Tour/Trip packet?

  1. The first stop of the tour will be at Bang Mbong village/laangz in Bokeo Province of Laos. The tour will lasts three nights and two days. The kind Iu-Mien village will graciously host an Iu-Mien New Year Celebration during this trip. As previously mentioned above, included in the celebration are sports activities, Iu Mien traditional festivities and a live band concert.
    • There will be two meals available daily for the U.S. participants while staying at the village;
    • Coordinators and their participants from their respective villages will have partial financial support to cover room and board as well as meals for the participants from the U.S.;
    • A bus will be provided and be available to pick up any interested Iu Mien seniors from the surrounding villages to the event and return to their village.
    • There will be prizes for the daily activities. For example, soccer will be awarded with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes for the last three standing teams.
  2. The second stop of the tour/trip will be at Bangc Kaah Laangz, in Payao Province of Thailand. The activities will be the same as the first stop. However, there will be no support to help fund a bus, and villagers will be responsible for covering their boarding and meals. Only the village that hosts the event will be funded.

Requirements from Interested Participant(s)

  1. There will be a commitment/membership fee of $100 per/person or $200 per/couple. Due to the complications for both sides of the planning committees to make adjustments, the fee is nonrefundable. If for any reasons, a participant(s) is/are unable to take the tour, their paid fee will be kindly donated to help support the rest of the committed participants/members who are able to proceed.
  2. When needed, participants are required to help the planning committee with fund raising to help fund the tour.
  3. Participants/members are to pay for their own airfares and any ground traveling expenses to the event and return to their home.
  4. You are freely, at will to travel to any places before or after the event at your own risk and hold UIMC, Inc with no liability for your well being.
  5. The sign-up cut off date for the tour is June 30th, 2008. (See attachment below for the sign-up form/agreement.) Afterwards, there will be additional fees for those who are interested and joining in late. The additional fee is charged for the unnecessary adjustments and the unfairness to those who joined early and assisted with the fund raising efforts.
  6. All minors will need to be accompanied by their guardian(s).

Two reasons why I think you have such negative behavior. 1) Often, you can’t accomplish what you wanted to accomplish, because you pissed/turned people off with your dirty tricks. 2) You are dishonest, coward and throwing cheap shots at people behind a wall where you’ll never have the balls to face them in person.

I’m sure it will not get into your head, but I want to inform you that I will always do my best and the honest ways to help out our Mien community. There are many brave and thankful people who thanked me and my boards for the works we’ve done, and only few (1 or 2) dishonest/coward people like you who throws cheap shots at me. So, be informed that you’re not going to get into my head.

All UIMC’s budgets are available for public view, if you understand what this mean. You’re encouraged and always welcomed to visit our agency to fill in the missing gap you have. Perhaps, you’ll feel better after viewing it that the only person that was not honest is yourself. I/we do things openly and honestly. I may not know who you are, but I’m sure Gauv and all of the iumien.com admins. can find out who you are, or perhaps, they already know who you are. Some people spend lots of time thinking and planning but don't want to do,
Some people don't want to do anything but want to criticize.
This is our Mien or Yao attitude. And some Mien from US talked about how wealthy, smart and want to do anything as they please.
For instance, two years ago there were a group of Mien people from the US came to Thailand to played soccer with Thai Mien,and they
talked lots of sh***t about how good they were playing soccer, acted like they were National Soccer Team but after a few round of running
they were nothing but a FAT PIG!!

Please be informed that we posted thread for two reasons only:

That is all!!!! Your helpful comments or critics are great, but we don't need it. Thanks.

One last thing, the existing/happening of the events depends on all of us. If we only focused on the negatives and unwilling to contribute, then we're not going to go anywhere. We heard many people commented that they are planning to attend the events, but they aren't going to contribute the needed fee. They think that the planning committee collects their money for their own benefit. Well, those people never talked to us, and the judgments they'd made are certainly, incorrect. The only person we can blame on when the events are not happening is ourselves. Why? Well, very simple, all we did was criticizing and unwilling to help out. If it continues to be very controversial with this tour/trip, then we will cancel the events.

Yes,naichan,I thought you can understand in thai language.That's why I had posted some thai language here like other mien members. because most Mien people came from Thailand refugee camp,Laos and they're very smart too.I do not know why?you so angry and I am not sure you're iu-mien too. Anyone looking for round trip tickets to Thailand/Laos next year? I have a friend, who work in the airlines and he can get it for, from $500 to $600. Or anywhere in the U.S for $300 and you can stay as long as you like. But, this year he already sold all. You see, every year the peoples work in the airline; each employer will get 20 tickets, with 80% discount on each ticket for his/her family to anywhere.

Hi Kaifa,

Not to offend you in any ways..., but our message is very clear. It means that this tour/trip to Laos and Thailand is own or sponsored/organized by United Iu-Mien Community, Inc. and that anyone who would like to be part of the tour will have to register with UIMC. We, as the tour participants/tour members will have to contribute to support the hosts in Laos and Thailand in order for them to host the events. They have the labors, but they don't have the funding to make it a reality. We need to support them with the funding. If we don't support them, there will be no events. They are willing to host the events because we agreed to assist them with the funding.

The collected fee is not for the United Iu-Mien Community, Inc. or the Tour/Trip's planning committee, it's for the hosts to help pay for the things that are needed during the events.

With all of these being said, and to be fair or not, I certainly can't afford to support the two hosts by myself or with just a few members. For anyone who already planned to go, but don't want to pay the fee, your planning may waste your time. We may need to cancel the trip/tour by June 30th, 2008, if we don't have enough members/participants, and if we were to cancel, the hosts from over sea will cancel their events as well. This is the clearest I can explain to you and all, even though, I don't understand what you wrote. Again, I hope I didn't offend you in any way. Thanks.

I have no interest when Mien people talk about politics. Someone
never plays soccer and does not know how to play soccer and
never had experience to organize soccer tournament still wants
to be in charge of soccer. Old habits should be left in Laos.
Do whatever you are good at. It would be disastrous if I sing
