Interracial Dating - Yae or Nae?

Interracial Dating - Yae or Nae?

How do yalls feel about interracial dating. Especially for the younger generation of mien people, how many other mien friends do you have that actually have mien girlfriends/boyfriends?

I personally have never dated a mien girl before, only because....uh....iono exactly why.

The Mien population in the USA is small compared to any other ethnicities and the interracial dating will dilute our ethnicity. Soon, most mien people in this country will be 1/2 mien and 1/2 something else. Our culture and language will eventually be lost, especially when the older generation passes.

How do you feel? Any remedies? I doubt it.

Sorry, off-topic post

I'm guessing yae and nae means yes and no, right? And saans means girls? I tried to search for their meanings on the dictionary search engine we have here, but the words didn't come out, so now I'm not sure if my guesses are right. Would anyone be a dear to correct me, please?

Saans, you never dated mien

Saans, you never dated mien girls before? Damn it! You did miss all the good-time/things with our mien gals. Mien gals are the best saans, they have this special move that they put on you than you will never forget about them..well, you never know what i'm talking about until you try it. To be honesty with you saans i never had enough from our mien girl. I love those low soft rustling whisper they put to my ear(let's do it)

It depends on the other

It depends on the other person, 'cause I'm down =)

I think that when a child is

I think that when a child is of a mixed culture but can only speak one predominate language that is the parent's fault.

I know this couple, the husband is white and his wife is Thai but their son can speak both English and Thai fluently.

Please parents have some pride and teach your kids not only your language and culture but also warn them that there are going to be people from both sides of their ethnic group that are not going to accept them for who they are especially if they are racially mixed. Remember "RACISM is NEVER GOING AWAY".

I know that Mien people are more accepting of the white Americans but you cannot say the same about them. Your gf/bf might accept you and your skin color but his/her parent or grand parents might not be and that is the ugly side of this.

problem is they don't

problem is they don't practice their culture enough when there is no use you toss it out human nature to survive adapt adopt and move on

Incest - yucko

I agree. Who knows, thats probably how it was back when our parents, parent's parents, lived when they were back in the village. How many mien families can you possibly find in one village. I would guess, uh iono 30 maybe 50. I'm sure some of the ended up marrying a cousin or even a niece or someone from their extended family. Just follow the trail of mien children that were born with genetic abnormalities - theres your 1st clue.

The only problem with teaching down through the generation is that simply people don't do that. I have several friends that married other ethnicities and neither of them have taught their children the language or culture. Actually, My Uncle married an American women and my cousins are half white. They have very little or no comprehension of mien language and culture.

Ya see.

"Music is food for your soul you eat with your ears."

I say yae, whatever floats

I say yae, whatever floats your boat. The Mien community is too small, if Mien people only dates other mien people, pretty soon you'll be dating your own cousins or you'll see everyone of your ex's at the Mien New year party. But yeah, as long as you teach your kids to learn and embrace both cultures, I don't see any problem with that. Personally, I think being interracial is beautiful.

what did you learn?

Look around you and see who you grew up with…see who are you’re friends now…are you open minded…are they open minded….are your parents a big part of your life…all these factors come into play with who you are influenced into liking…

Take for instance you are a small minority is large white town most of your friends are white most likely you would date and eventually marry a white person.

If you were in a small town…you are a minority but at the same time your cultures population is big and the upbringing is pretty strict you might find yourself with your own kind of people…Parents might have a big influence….

What this boils down to be is what you are attracted too…race shouldn’t be an issue….what issue should boil down to is…is there love….

CULTURE I like what CHERYL has said teach it….but I also like to add in make sure you know your culture and practice it….

I think Yae!

I dated a mien guy before. I was only 14 and it was a kiddy relationship but he was still mien. Does that count?

I don't see anything wrong with interracial dating. If you want to preserve your culture and customs, you teach it onto your children even though they're half something else.

If you end up marrying someone Cambodian (haha that word sounds funny - Cambodian). I hope that the child grows up with the knowledge of both culture and ability to speak both native tongues. Your child would be funny colored though: half light brown and half Dark Brown borderline black.
