Missionary Mien and Christianity, What do you think?

I lived many years already, but have not seen anyone came back from the dead from whichever religion.
Why is it so important? Is it the Religion? the cultures? or the languages?

Is it for personal gain when a someone show another that she/he has found a great teacher (the bible and God)and willing to share all the details of his teachings.Nobodythreat anyone if they feel it not for them. It's free of choice.

The Holy Bible scriptures are all inspired by God and they are beneficial for teaching,for reproving,
for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness and that the man of God may fully competent completely equiped every good work(2tim.3:16,17)

Do you know your religion? Why are you in? Is it beneficial spirituallY? Are you teaching them to your children and grandchildren? Hope there is no shame to pass on.

I'm not christians but i agree with meyphan said, "we all need to stop attacking each other's religions". There is no reason for anyone to post their venomous drivel when all it is going to do is hurt people. I don’t really know about you mien folks but I totally say that it’s wrong for those missionary to just go around the world and try to convert people. If the bible says that you should be friendly to your neighbors then you should be friendly. Not trade them assistance for their religions. I’m also speaking from Experiences too. When I was in Wyoming I stayed with my friend’s family who were Catholics. I’m not a Christian but I learned a lot about the bible and the different branches of Christianity from my friend’s family because I would sometimes go to church and masses with them. They were a typical catholic family. They didn’t look down on me for being a Pagan Devil Worshipper as others would see me. I’m not a Christian but I do read the bible. It’s probably one of the most controversial books ever because there are so many passages in it. People just take the ones they want to make a point and leave out the others. Quit being such a retard and preach the whole entire book man. Let others fall to their dooms and burn in the ashes if your religion is so right.

Reading back on some of the posts and got to thinking, if missionaries are commanded to go and tell, that should be it right? to just go and tell. And yet I read about pushing ideals or ultimatums. Which do seem to be the case since I myself have had missionaries come up to my doorstep and say what they were commanded to say. I'm sure they have the best of intentions, but if I "was" to say interested in converting, I'd go do research or check it out myself. I'm an old student thats still learning, I dont need someone to tell me what I need to do, believe, etc.
I also find some contradictory twisted humor in some of their "tactics". Like going to other countries whereas education is limited, and spout out their ideals or influence the people there of salvation. Its like kind of like preying on their ignorance. Its almost like exercising the "Devil's Tongue" don't you think?
I've been told its the right thing to do according to them, but as much faith they would have in their savior, they dont have the faith in other people and respect for a culture that may be older than theirs? Sounds more like an Ego tall as cathedrals to me. (Stole that line from Devil's Advocate, as a reference to God)
I've seen some of the churches, been there a couple of times and in my opinion I see a merge of religions. I think its cool how people gather and reinforce their faith. Getting the young to read Mienh is pretty cool too. I sometimes wonder if it is their choice or a requirement of practice. Clear it up for me please?
I have a friend, Mien of course but a devoted Mien Christian. In his manner of speech and demeanor it is very clear see his resolve and faith. I'm not a Christian but we do see eye to eye and respect our different beliefs in life. He told me once that, what irks him a lot if people converting but not totally believing, treating it like some trend. I agree with that.
When it comes to dealing with complicated issues, I always hear "What would Jesus do?" It bugs me when there is a debate and a missionary brings up a passage from the bible to as counter-argument. I'd rather hear something genuine from their personal experiences or opinions you know. Another way to perceive it is like they're sugar-coating reality.
To me, Jesus was just another human being. An extraordinary human with an amazing perception of value in life. In his time, I'm guessing its pretty easy to influence others preaching whatever you believe in. In today's modern age where intelligence and wisdom runs high and vast, its no wonder we as human beings have any unification. It can easily blinds one's ego and I'm no exception. But I have an idea.

Think for example, a time, an era or more specifically, the past. Before Christ, there were constant wars over lands, aristocracy and the like. A Medieval age, where there were no values and the evil in man's heart rang frighteningly real. Of course, there were victims of war worldwide. Rather than to find strength in themselves to stand up, they build hope and faith in their hearts for a savior. That add all that hope and faith and you get the concept of "God".
I got this idea from some manga and for some reason, I resonate with it.

Now I'm going on a limb here but maybe in our known history, when that age of chaos reached its peak before civilization could destroy itself, a savior did appear. That was Jesus. I'm pretty sure there were others before him, probably better known as prophets like Moses or Abraham or something. All stating that God spoke to them. I'm guessing Jesus was the only one to state he was indeed the son of God. And the story goes on...

It is, however, only an idea. I'm not saying its fact but the cumulative knowledge and experiences I've had. I believe religion is there to give an idea of how to live. There are however, People who would push the or their ideals onto others, its almost selfish. I call them "Elitists".

Today on the 4th of July I declare MY independence, I'm all about self-sufficiency and doing the right thing even if it hurts. Truthfully unafraid about one's convictions and resolve yet keeping an empty mind to never stop learning. Working for that honest smile.

You really want to know why i hate christians. I hate it because it was originated from the whites'. Christian people are going all around the world and converting everyone. Do you know why some of us, mien people, were converted when we were dirt poor in our homeland? They provide us food in exchange for us to convert to christian. They trick all of us. It's pretty messed up. The christian thing killed alot of people in China and Korea. See how messed up that is. Religion is very sensitive issue to some people yet it doesn't make sense at all for others. Therefore, for those of us who try to argue religious believe, I think it's no brainer.

Hate to break it to you, but you already got the answer: which is never.
The reason is simple, it's akin to asking the husband if he thinks it's wrong to sleep with his own wife.
Likewise, all Christians (if they ever want to go to heaven) are required to spread the peaceful teachings of Jesus.

And for those Christians who know for a fact that they are going to hell, no fears, work out this logic and you'd be fine:
The first truth: without nerve endings and a brain, you as a human being can never feel pain.
The second truth: after death, we all know that the body remains on earth.
So, you see, your soul is freed of the body--the home of illness, pain, decay, etc.
However,
Exception One: not sure if the "soul" can feel pain or not.
Exception Two: God may have a ready-made soul-less body waiting for you in hell (which definitely sucks for you).

However, the same cannot be said of his children, grandchildren, etc. Why? Because the Christian-centric parents will increasingly transmit Christain culture to the suceeding generations, and when all the Mien parents became Christains, pray tell where can you find "authentic" Miens with their own Eastern culture and not that of a Christian, Western culture?

So the concern is that eventually, Mien culture would be nonexistent, which is a very valid concern that A_S has been addressing throughout his posts.

The simple point is that we Miens cannot even claim to have a country of our own, now we are on the verge of not being able to claim to have a culture of our own.

I agree with Meuy. But as always the majority of these people, Christians, are never going to answer my question on this post; I shouldn't be surprised by that. And I am pretty sure they won't answer your question either, Meuy. They don't care what they do, they don't care if it's wrong or dahdahdah dah dah, they are a cult and as long as they fulfill their duties, they feel accomplished in life and won't stop. Oh yeah, this also brings up my talk about the "Lost" Amazonian Tribe they located in South America, which I feel is good to mention here since it has some parallels to this post topic. Pretty sure some of the Christians don't care but hey... whatever. Anyways, it's amazing how this tribe has still been uncontacted by the modern world and other people even in this century! They have been living like natural humans in the jungle without any type of technology whatsoever. There were a couple of people wanting to go there and live with that tribe and learn about them and convert them; some wanted to go there and help them out by bringing in medicine and technology to expose them to the modern world. Many people thought all these people wanting to go there and do whatever with the tribe was crazy and thought that they should be left alone.

I agree with the people that thinks that the tribe should be left alone. First of all, why would people want to learn about such an amazing and extremely rare group of people, which probably only has like a couple dozen of people in the entire world, just to convert and erase their culture? This is obviously wrong. Second of all, why would you be concerned about their well beings and want to help them? Ummm hello! They have been living like this for thousands of years and they sure don't need to make it luxurious or convinient by having technology. Look at our economy today and how the well being of life is here, even with all these technology and convinience, people are still commiting crimes and doing a lot of bad stuff to each other. For all we know, these tribes probably have a better life than you and living at peace without all this chaos! Next is, they don't need medicine; they have a very healthy life and bringing all these foreign stuff is just going to mess up their genetics and introduce disease to them. For instance, the Pilgrims introducing chicen pox to the Native Americans.

I guess what I am trying to say here is that some things are just better if they are left alone, and thats sort of the relationship of these two topics; the Lost Amazonian Tribe with people wanting to modernize them and Missionaries trying to convert Miens. You know when people are not killing one another or doing anything physically or mentally harmful to another one, what gives you the right to tell people how to live? My words may be ignored by the Christians here, but I hope it does reach out to the Buddhist and Taoist Miens and that they have a broader view of the world so they can make choices for themselves and never forget who they are. If people aren't doing anything bad I would never tell them how to live or force them to believe something they don't want, it's completely wrong. I REALLY WISH THE MISSIONARY WOULD JUST LEAVE THE MIEN PEOPLE ALONE....

Some sect of Mien christians over do it. They pressure others to convert. The thing that kills me the most is when Mien convert for the wrong reasons. For example, they fall sick and they need a quick remedy. They are convinced that converting is the answer. The next thing that happens is all of their ancestral books and family registry books are all burned for no reason. So, if a christian person tells me that conversion doesn't mean losing their tradition/history then why are things burned. To me it's like erasing your history or records of your family. Families have kept these things for generations and then to have it burned in an instance to me is incomprehensible. What kind of christianity is this? This is why I think that some sect of Mien Christian is tailored to their own beliefs, not the beliefs or teachings of the Bible. It's no wonder the Mien christians I know have done away with going to Mien churches because of the extemeties practiced. Just my two cents in this issue.
