Iu Mien Flag. Is there One?

I scrapped my Iu Mien flag plan!

Mien Flag: Yes we can do it.
I also have seen the Mien Flag before too. I think it was made by the bay area Iu Mien Community, San Jose maybe?
Nice, but I personally think it has too many colors, or stripes on it, which make the flag looks not so appealing (no offend).

Someone should collect all new (flag) ideas & designs from/by whoever and post them here in iumien.com so all members will have a chance to view them and VOTE for the best one. Whoever that wins should be honored! - A bowl of noodle soup on me.. =)

ive seen the mien flag or whats suppose to br our flag. it had 12 stars across it diagonally. on one side it had a sun which represents something i forgot this was a while back and on the other side there was a cresent moon with a star in it. also on each side there where stripes colored red, yellow, green, blue, and black.

How we try something new for a flag. Instead of designs we have words, for example, we can use my Signature.lol I've always wanted a T-Shirt that said that but why not a flag?

What's so embarrassing about being proud of your own heritage? Having a country isn't a requirement for having a flag. As long as there's unity, you can have a flag represent 10 people or 10 million people. But whether or not we as Mien people have unity is deeper question...

Every organization can have their own flag....... . For example.. LIMCA of Oakland Ca, have their own flag to represent their organization/temple.... To have a flag that represent the whole Iu Mien American is another story...

Iu Mien World Cup Soccer is coming to Thailand in 2010(Iu Mien Football du Monde en Thailande). Other Hill Tribes are welcome!
This proposed Iu Mien Flag will be displayed at the 2008 Annual Soccer Tournament.
This is how the Flag will look like( just an NPI):
1. Blue flag( le bleu). Soft Mien Heart
2. White Solid Circle dot in the center of flag represents the Unity of Iu Mien in the World.
3. Big Star represents Iu Mien in China and followed by next smaller Star represents Vietnam Mien.
4.Each additional Star represents Mien in each country.

is that c-riously?it will be true? iumien world cup? :) anyway, we iumien in thailand always have that activity once a year (at least) we change the place every year. it good to have time to share alot of things together.but sadly mien over there dont have much chance to join us:(. we would like to invite u there if have time just come back and join us. we for sure that it will be more fun!!

flag is just something that u can see. the most important is our mind, soul,heart (is that the samething? ehee:) if mien can be mien from the bottom of heart i think that's enough and u can be poud of it 200% jaaaa:)eheeee:)

You're right. They are not technically "primary" colors. I was thinking of the colors used primarily used in printing and imaging to come up with the entire spectrum of visible colors: RGB & CMYK.

I also agree that stars are cliche. It's just one idea. Here are some others: 12 circles? Twelve 12-sided object? Twelve gourds? Twelve headed dog?

Perhaps there are meanings to the 12 fingx? If so, maybe symbols to represent those 12 meanings, like the twelve astrological symbols or the twelve symbols of the lunar month?

BTW, green and black are not primary colors. I like the concept of the 12 stars, however, they are a bit cliche. So many flags have stars that symbolize something already.

Colors can come from common colors in our embroidery and culture, like red, green, blue, yellow, black. These also happen to be primary colors.

That is very interesting question.. I am sure back in China our forefather KING PAN might had a flag to represent our iu mien. If you were going to design it , what it be look like? I have no idea.... Even the hmong people (the most elite group from Laos) don't have a flag.....
